Basically if used right this can be a mean, bean, tearing team machine. Curse allows you to get the advantage over your oponent by making them have to switch or take alot of damage. After that pain split restores any lost hp due to curse, which if used right the cycle can keep going. Protect is there to stall pokemon that arent really afraid of staying in such as gengar, heatran, salamence, etc... this allows you to not only drain there hp but drain there pp and at the same time you get a leftovers recovery. Shadow Sneak is there to finish off the oponent after they have taken enough damage from curse.
This type of Dusknoir is best used with the support of stealth rocks and toxic spikes. Since it will be causing your oponent to switch u want some extra damage in with stealth rocks, plus protect stall while toxic spikes are to sinking in damage can be devestating to the oponents team. The evs allow dusknoir to live timid, max spa, life orbed, gengars shadowball with at the least 1 hp (not factoring stealth rocks). The rest of the evs are dumped into def. You want to use this towards the end of the game that way you can get major threats out of the way such as rotom and gengar whos shadowball can easily ruin your cycle.
