Ah, the things I think of when I'm bored.

The forums are a bit on the slow side at the moment, and I had a really random idea that may or may not work to help build up some activity. Basically, it's a little online festival-type event, where we can have contests, tutorials, giveaways, etc.

We could give the site a temporary new layout during the festival to "decorate" - I know we just got a new layout, but we could go back to the current one after the festival. I was thinking a more decorative layout would be neat, something to show that there's a special event going on. Then we can have, say, 1-2 weeks with different events and contests and the like. We could make various tutorials and stuff for any new players, and then also have different kinds of competitions. For example, spriting competitions, fanfic writing, etc.

Obviously there would be plenty of trading and battling, and members can set up their trading shops. Tournaments are a bit difficult to work with, because of so many varying schedules, but we could still have free battles, and I know I for one would love to see some Little Cup battling going on! We could have giveaways of different types, like raffles, trivia contests, etc. If everyone donated one or two things to be given away, we could have plenty of chances for people to win.

Another idea I had was to run a unique StarryDay competition during the event. Basically how that works is everyone is given a baby pokemon, and must complete certain tasks with that pokemon, such as raising it to certain levels, obtaining ribbons on it, winning battles, etc. The one I was thinking of running would focus on contest competitions, because I know while not many people actively compete in them, they're still quite entertaining in moderation.

I'll keep thinking on this, but I thought it'd be a nice little thing to do to try and bring some extra activity into the forums.
